The National Center for Wildlife recently released 60 seabirds into their natural habitat at Al-Aziziyah Beach in the Eastern Province following rehabilitation.
The initiative underscores international commitments and efforts to preserve these species, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The wildlife center has reintroduced three great egrets, seven Caspian gulls, 46 black-headed gulls and four Slender-billed gulls to enhance biodiversity and ecological balance.
CEO of the center, Mohammed Ali Qurban, said that releasing these seabirds post-rehabilitation aligned with the organization’s dedication to achieving its objectives in wildlife sustainability, ecosystem preservation and enrichment, while also safeguarding biodiversity.
He said that this contributed to fulfilling international commitments and efforts to preserve these species. It also supported the implementation of the national strategy for environmental protection and the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aimed at creating an appealing environment and enhancing quality of life.
