Bassem Youssef, Maz Jobrani to perform at Abu Dhabi Comedy Festival

The inaugural edition of the Abu Dhabi Comedy Festival has added two new comedians to its roster of performers: Bassem Youssef and Maz Jobrani.

The renowned comedians will take to the stage on May 24.

Organized by Live Nation Middle East and scheduled to run from May 18 to 26 at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, the festival previously announced Aziz Ansari and Tom Segura as part of the line-up.

Egyptian-American comedian Youssef s known for his sharp wit and insightful commentary. He was the host of “Al Bernameg,” the first political satire show in the Middle East that grew in popularity and reached 30 million viewers a week. He was recognised in Time Magazine’s most influential list for 2013 and has also received the International Press Freedom Award.

Youssef also made headlines last year in October, after he appeared in a viral interview with Piers Morgan as they discussed the Israel-Gaza War.

American comedian Jobrani has made many appearances on television’s most popular shows including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Last Man Standing,” and “Shameless.”

His standup comedy specials include “Immigrant,” a Netflix original, and solo specials on Showtime such as “Brown and Friendly” and “I Come In Peace.” In 2016, he performed at the White House where he met Michelle Obama. Recently, he released a new standup comedy special called “The Birds And The Bees,” which is now available on YouTube.
