Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan made a phone call to his Colombian counterpart Alvaro Leyva Duran, the Kingdom’s foreign ministry said on Thursday.
At the beginning of the call, Prince Faisal said he appreciated Colombia’s support for a UN resolution issued on Friday, which aims for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of an urgent humanitarian truce in the besieged Gaza Strip.
“The two sides discussed developments in the situation in Gaza and its surroundings, in light of the continuing military escalation and the harm to defenseless civilians,” the ministry said in a statement.
They also discussed the need for the international community to fulfil “its responsibility to stop all military actions and return to the path of just and comprehensive peace for the Palestinian issue, in a way that achieves international peace and security,” it added.
