Saudi Arabia signs the document of accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia

Today, Wednesday, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, signed the document of accession of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the chair of the current session of the ministerial meeting of the countries of the Association of Southeast Asia. Asia (ASEAN), meeting in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

This is based on the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and their relentless keenness to continue strengthening bridges of communication with all countries around the world, and to support all aspects of joint coordination, including multi-action. the parties.

The Kingdom’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia is an affirmation of the close ties with East Asian countries in many fields, and a continuation of the Kingdom’s internationally leading role in achieving international peace and security, and its approach based on promoting dialogue, intensifying joint coordination, and consolidating multilateral action with countries. Brotherly and friendly towards more stability, prosperity and progress for all countries and peoples, quoting the Saudi Press Agency “SPA”.

The foreign minister praised the distinguished relations between the Kingdom and the ASEAN countries, expressing the keenness of the Kingdom’s leadership to expand the frameworks of cooperation between the Kingdom and the ASEAN countries in many fields and on issues of common interest.

He stressed the importance of this treaty in the field of cooperation in the Southeast Asian region, especially as it is consistent with the principles of the United Nations Charter, noting that the close relations with the member states of the treaty will contribute to achieving the aspirations of all countries towards achieving the goals of sustainable development, promoting joint action, and creating A new development and economic opportunity for all.
