With the beginning of the month of Ramadan, the head of the Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine at Trakya University in the state of Edirne, western Turkey, Ghaleb Akuklu, recommended eating a light meal between breakfast and suhoor, and walking after breakfast.
Akuklu said that a person should not be satisfied with breakfast only during the days of Ramadan, calling for eating a plate of soup and stopping for a short period of eating, then moving on to eating the main dish, and he advised drinking large amounts of fluids between breakfast and suhoor.
Akoglu added that a light meal should be eaten between breakfast and suhoor, stressing the need to stay away from fried foods with oil, and eat oven-cooked or boiled foods.
He also warned of the dangers of immobility after eating a rich meal, calling for walking for about 20 minutes and doing exercise after breakfast.
