Algerian gendarmerie forces arrested a contractor on charges of cheating cement by mixing it with sugar in construction work, according to Algerian media.
And the Algerian Ministry of Commerce announced the seizure of significant quantities of sugar, the owner of which was involved in mixing it with cement and using it in various construction works, explaining in a communication that, in the framework of open investigations about supplying the market with widely consumed materials, especially subsidized materials, the agents of economic control took over in coordination with The National Gendarmerie authorities seized 5 tons of sugar in a workshop to be mixed with concrete and used in various construction works.
She added that preliminary investigations showed that the latter had acquired more than 10 tons of sugar, during the period from January to today’s date.
