A doctor expects to save 300,000 lives through HPV vaccination

Dr. Ivan Steledy, Director of the Blokhin National Medical Research Center for Oncology, announced that the HPV vaccine will be added in 2024 to the list of mandatory vaccinations in Russia.

In an interview with the “Izvestia” newspaper, Stellidi indicated that, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, about 80 percent of girls under the age of 15 must be vaccinated in order to combat the spread of cervical cancer.

“If we implement the recommendations of the World Health Organization, we will save about 300,000 lives over the coming decades,” he says.

And he adds, explaining, the human papilloma virus can cause cancer of the cervix, penis and anus. Vaccination against the virus is the best way to prevent these tumors.

And the specialist points out that this vaccine never affects reproductive function and has been proven to be completely harmless.
