“Will my parents come to see me” by Somali director Mo Harawi won the Grand Prix at the 45th Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand (France), the largest event of its kind in the world, the organizers said Saturday.
The 28-minute film was among the nominated works for the Golden Bear award in the short film category during the last session of the Berlin Film Festival.
The film deals with the story of an experienced Somali policewoman who accompanies a young prisoner in the Somali judicial proceedings.
Mo Harawi, born in 1992 in Mogadishu, fled Somalia in 2009 and went to Austria, where he began his film career with a large number of award-winning short films at festivals, including “The Store of the Polar Bear” and “That Wanted to Go to Africa.” and “Live on the Horn”.
