The South Korean company, “Samsung”, has developed a solution that allays the fears of millions of its users during the delivery of their smartphones for repair, which is the possibility of hundreds of photos, texts and personal information about them being viewed and leaked.
Samsung plans to introduce a new privacy feature, which will give technicians limited access to the internal parts of the smartphone, according to what was revealed by the “SamMobile” website.
The feature is turned on through the “Battery and Device Care” section within the built-in Settings app, and after doing that, the phone will reboot into repair mode, after which accounts, photos and personal messages will be hidden, and it is possible to access default apps installed only by the repair person or any Someone else touches the phone during the process, and users will only have to decide when to turn off Repair Mode.
This feature will initially be available on Samsung Galaxy S21 phones in South Korea, while Samsung plans to expand the new support for other models in the future.
