Nashville police announced that the singer and actress Shunka Ducoure, who played the blues singer Big Mama Thornton in this year’s movie “Elvis”, was found dead in her apartment.
The police said in a statement, Thursday: “The body of Doucouret (44 years) was found after one of her children found her unconscious and unresponsive, so he ran to a neighbor who called the emergency authorities.”
The police added that there was no criminal suspicion in the matter, while an autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Ducourier participated in the movie “Elvis”, which was released this year as her first major role, along with Austin Butler, who played Elvis Presley, and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker.
