A nutritionist advises against eating some foods on the plane

Dr. Natalia Nefedova, a Russian nutrition expert, advises against eating sharp-tasting, greasy, sweetened legumes and sugary and carbonated drinks during the flight.

In an interview with Gazeta.Ru, the expert notes that these foods and drinks cause flatulence and digestive problems in conditions of low atmospheric pressure. It is also not recommended to add salt to food on the plane, because the sensitivity of taste receptors decreases in conditions of low atmospheric pressure at an altitude of 10,000 meters.

And, she adds, being over dehydrated on a plane can lead to dehydration, and thus to fatigue and headaches. So it is advised to drink more pure water, eat fresh vegetables and fruits, stand and walk to improve lymph flow and blood and avoid blood clots.
