The story of “The Oxygen Child” returns to the fore in Lebanon… The father is in trouble

The story of the 4-year-old Lebanese girl, Malakah Al-Hamawi, who was known as the “Oxygen Child”, has returned to the fore again due to her deteriorating health condition, her cessation of treatment and the forced absence of the father (the sole breadwinner) from the home.

After the Lebanese media were abuzz in the fall of 2021 with the story of Queen Al-Hamawi as a result of the spread of a video clip of the young Farouk Al-Hamwi (the girl’s father) from the Al-Mankoubin area in Tripoli, in the north of the country, at the time, he appealed to “people of conscience” for help to operate a machine to provide oxygen to his asthmatic child, from As a result of the permanent power cuts and the power generators being turned off due to the loss of diesel fuel, an electricity generator was secured at that time and treatments for the girl were from various Lebanese regions.

And the “Sky News Arabia” website learned, on Saturday, that a state of despair afflicts the family of the “Oxygen Child”, Queen of Hamwi, and that the father is forcibly absent from providing for the family, and that her situation raises concern after the absence of her father, the only sponsor of the family, and the mother’s inability to secure treatment in the absence of the breadwinner.
Sources close to the family told “Sky News Arabia” that “Father Farouk al-Hamwi was arrested by a patrol of the security apparatus, which was involved in ensuring the conduct of the parliamentary electoral process in Lebanon, last May, after a problem occurred in the region that the father Farouk had nothing to do with, but he He was among the people crowding the street, according to the account of Malaka Al-Hamawi’s mother to the “Sky News Arabia” website.

The girl’s grandmother, who lives with her husband (Farouq’s father) and is also under the care of her son in the same house, told “Sky News Arabia” that Malakah’s health condition worsened, and so did she (ie the grandmother), and that she and her husband were living under the wing of their only son, which forced the grandmother, despite her pain and asthma Also to try to help and work in the streets and sell “lupine” on the sidewalks in the neighborhood in which they reside to secure a living.

The girl’s mother told Sky News Arabia: “I hesitated a lot to ask for help, but Malakah is in danger and my husband is innocent of any problem that occurred in the region at the time, and I am still promised to release him without knowing the time, place and even the reasons.”

She added, “The treatment of my daughter with severe asthma stopped in the summer and she has been feeling short of breath for months, and she had an accident at home that injured her and she is without any treatment as a result of the inability to secure medicines and also losing them, and securing an electric current allowance to operate the breathing device,” and she continued: What is the use of devices if they are not turned on?

The wife appealed to the concerned authorities “to release her husband as soon as possible and to investigate him to find out the reasons for his arrest at least and to save her child from the inevitable death due to the loss of the breadwinner and treatment.”

The four-year-old daughter, Malakah Al-Hamawi, who was born with asthma, lives with her sick father, mother and grandparents. The grandmother (the lupine seller) suffers from asthma and the grandfather suffers from heart problems, under very difficult circumstances.

The father of the 27-year-old girl was the only breadwinner for his family who worked as a furniture painter, but he stopped working due to the closure of the factory since the beginning of the economic crisis in Lebanon.

It is noteworthy that the publication that appeared on the media and screens in 2021 provoked the majority of the Lebanese people with its various components and sects, in solidarity with the scene of the girl, especially with the influential scene of her father Farouk Al-Hamwi, at the time, when he was asking for help, given that the asthma crises that the girl suffers from require treatment using a device. To breathe, it needs to be turned on to provide electricity, which has been basically cut off since that time.
