The Chinese video application “Tik Tok” is preparing to launch new features that prevent millions of its users from continuing to use it for continuous hours daily.
Tik Tok has designed two new tools to help its users control the total amount of time they spend on the social media platform, according to the British newspaper, The Guardian.
The first tool will allow users to set time limits, before requesting a break after a certain amount of uninterrupted screen time, a number that the user can set themselves if they wish.
The second tool is a new screen time dashboard as well, and includes notes for TikTok users about the amount of time they spend in the app, how often they open it, and a breakdown of their use of it day and night.
The two new features will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
It is noteworthy that “Tik Tok” already has a screen time management feature, which allows the relevant application users, or their parents, to set an allowance for the minutes that they can spend on the video platform each day.
When the specified time is exceeded, TikTok will ask to enter a pre-set passcode to continue using the application, which will increase the scrolling speed.
