Prince William, second-in-line to the British throne, was seen on the streets of London selling copies of the “Big Esw” magazine, which the homeless usually sell.
Prince William, who was wearing the company’s red cap and jacket, was spotted near Westminster on Wednesday selling the magazine, which gives homeless people an opportunity to earn income by selling it to the public.
In a LinkedIn post with a picture of William, retired Matthew Gardner said his son-in-law watched Prince William, 39, and enjoyed “a special moment with our future king, who seemed humble and worked quietly behind the scenes to help the neediest.”
He added, “The end of this unique occasion came when Prince William asked my brother-in-law if he wanted to buy the (Big Echo) magazine and he replied ‘I don’t have small coins.’ At this point William pulled out a bank card machine (Visa). You can’t teach that.”
The use of card readers by the homeless is increasing as the number of people carrying cash in Britain has decreased over the past few years.
For its part, Prince William’s office declined to comment on the report, according to Reuters.
It is noteworthy that when William and his brother Harry were children, their mother, the late Princess Diana, accompanied them on visits to homeless shelters, as part of her charitable work.
