Russia is testing a new vaccine against smallpox

A new vaccine against smallpox is currently being tested in Russia, as well as drugs to treat it.

This was announced by the Russian Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko, stressing the importance of making coordinated efforts with the countries of the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization” in order to address new challenges.
He explained that one of the tasks that are presented today to health institutions in the countries of the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization” is to take coordinated positions in response to challenges and risks such as the monkeypox virus.

In a speech delivered at the meeting of health ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, the Russian Minister of Health indicated that his country is determined to develop further cooperation with the organization’s countries in the spirit of partnership and mutual assistance.

Concluding his speech, he said: “I express my hope that our mutual efforts will help in the further development of health systems in our countries.”
