Benjamin Cho, a lawyer for American actor Johnny Depp, said the latter won the lawsuit against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, because he was outspoken about his problems, while Heard did not take responsibility for her actions.
“Depp was very frank about his alcohol and drug problems, and he was frank about some of the unfortunate texts he’s written, and I think that showed a sharp contrast to Heard, who didn’t, or perhaps the jury realized she didn’t take responsibility,” the attorney noted.
He added, “He removed the weight of the world from his shoulders and regained his life.”
The jury had found both Amber Heard and Depp liable for defamation in lawsuits against each other, and awarded Depp $10 million in damages and $5 million in punitive damages. The agency awarded Amber Heard $2 million in damages and non-punitive damages.
