A Syrian pharmaceutical preparation from the Damascene rose is the first of its kind

The Syrian News Agency “SANA” reported that a group of Syrian specialists and researchers had installed a preparation of natural ingredients, the first of its kind, and its idea was presented during the activities of the Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention.
A member of the research team said, according to the agency, that the preparation consists of Shami rose water with extracts of shells and pistachio gum to prepare it as a toothpaste for mouthwash, antiseptic, and treatment for mouth wounds, receding gums and unpleasant odor.
He added: “The idea received great support and interest from the Syrian Trust for Development, according to Al-Jabai, which contributed to turning it into a project under implementation that would represent an important step for the effective investment of the Damascene Rose.
Dr. Ibrahim Turkmani, a professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at Al-Baath University in Homs and a member of the team, explained that the combination of toothpaste or mouthwash produced from Shami rose water with pistachio peel extract is characterized by its richness in aromatic and phenolic compounds that have an antibacterial and antifungal effect that affects the oral cavity, It also has a fragrant effect to get rid of unpleasant odors in the mouth and has an antiseptic effect and analgesic for dental pain and anti-inflammation of the mouth and pharynx, in addition to its aromatic smell, and it also contains substances that help protect against tooth decay, gum disease and bad breath, according to a 2016 study on oral health. .
According to Turkmani, the composition of the preparation is also characterized by being safe and can be swallowed, and therefore does not pose a danger as the rest of the oral rinses, which are not allowed to be swallowed because they contain chemicals, and therefore the need to use safe compounds that do not cause damage as a result of ingestion of children who constitute the most vulnerable segment For painful oral ulcers and thrush.
