70 British companies plan to try to work for 4 days a week without cutting the wages of their more than 3,000 workers.
The British Broadcasting Corporation, “BBC”, said that the trial period of work for 4 days a week will continue for a period of 6 months, a period that organizers consider the largest trial period of working 4 days a week taking place anywhere in the world.
Companies are scheduled to offer their employees 100% of the wage despite reducing working hours to 80%, but the companies stipulated a commitment to maintain at least 100% of productivity.
Academics from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge are supervising the experiment, as well as experts at Boston College in the US in partnership with the Autonomy Research Centre.
Participating companies offer products and services ranging from education to consulting services, and researchers will work with each participating organization to measure the impact on the productivity and well-being of its workers, as well as the impact on the environment and gender equality.
