EU: Possibility of a nuclear deal with Iran dwindling

European Union Foreign Policy Commissioner Josep Borrell stressed that “reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran requires more efforts.”
Borrell said, through his Twitter account, that “the possibility of reaching an agreement with Iran is diminishing,” stressing his readiness at any time to find solutions to the outstanding issues in the Vienna negotiations.

Talks aimed at restoring the Iranian nuclear deal have been suspended since last March, due to Tehran’s insistence on removing the Revolutionary Guards from the US list of foreign terrorist organizations.
In April 2021, Vienna hosted negotiations under the auspices of the European Union to save the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program in light of the United States’ withdrawal from it in 2018, during the term of its former president, Donald Trump, who imposed sanctions on the Iranian party, to respond by reducing its commitments to the deal since 2019. .
Officially negotiations are taking place between Iran on the one hand, and Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany on the other, while the United States is participating in the dialogue without engaging in any direct contacts with the Iranian side.
Tehran refuses to negotiate directly with the administration of US President Joe Biden before lifting sanctions, while Washington insists on the need to advance the principle of step for step.
