Elon Musk, Tesla’s chief executive, said he had a “very bad feeling” about the economy and wanted to cut 10 per cent of jobs at the company.
According to “Reuters”, this came in an email sent by the American billionaire to the company’s executives, on Thursday.
“Reuters” stated that it had seen the letter, which was titled “All recruitment around the world has been suspended temporarily.”
Inside the letter, Musk said he had a “very bad feeling” about the economy.
It is noteworthy that the number of employees in the “Tesla” company, the electric car maker, has reached about 100,000 by the end of 2021.
On Wednesday, Musk threatened to fire Tesla executives if they did not resume work from the office for at least 40 hours a week.
Musk sent an email to company executives titled “Remote work is no longer acceptable,” in which he made it clear that he would fire those who wish to continue the work-from-home routine, the report said.
“Anyone who wants to do remote work must be in the office for at least 40 (and I mean minimum) 40 hours per week or leave Tesla,” he said.
“This is less than what we’re asking of factory workers,” Musk was also quoted by Bloomberg as saying via email.
At the same time, Musk specified that Tesla executives should return to the head office and not to a remote branch office unrelated to job duties, according to the report.
