Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred became the first Arab and African artist to reach the one billion views on YouTube, through his song “You are a teacher”, to enter the Guinness Book of Records.
International songs have broken the one billion watch mark over the past years, and there was not one of them by an Arab or African artist, the most famous of these songs are “Wakka Waka” (2010) by the Colombian singer Shakira, and “Gum Gum Style” (2012) by the South Korean singer Psai, which took the throne YouTube for years.
Lamjarred had previously entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2015, after the high viewership achieved by the video clip for the song “You are a teacher”, where it exceeded 20 million views on YouTube in less than two weeks, and then the viewership of the work exceeded 41 million views in less than a month and a half the month.
The clip of the song was published on May 2, 2015, and it reached the one billion views after 7 years.
