Demolition of Palestinian homes inside… What are the implications of the new Israeli government’s plan?

In a move described by observers as “dangerous”, the Israeli government led by Naftali Bennett is considering the option of demolishing the homes of Israeli Arabs involved in operations against Israel and deporting families to Gaza, after the recent attacks that killed 19 Israelis in about a month.
According to Israeli media, Israeli Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar recommended, in a meeting of the security cabinet, the demolition of the homes of the Israeli Arabs involved in the attacks, and the transfer of the families of the Palestinians involved in them, from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip, to combat the latest wave of violence.

Observers said that there is an Israeli tendency to deport Palestinian families who have been inside Israel for a long time, whether on the pretext that their children were involved in killings, or because of the pretext of rehabilitating Arab areas.
Israeli plan

Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar called on the legal system to examine the possibility of deporting the families of Palestinian terrorists to the Gaza Strip.
He explained, according to what was reported by the “Yediot Aharonot” newspaper, that the talk is about families that can be proven that they had prior knowledge of the intention of one of their members to carry out an attack.
The minister also requested verification of the legality of demolishing the homes of Palestinians who hold Israeli citizenship in the event of attacks.
Israel demolishes the homes of Palestinian residents of the West Bank who carry out attacks in Israeli cities and settlements.
And last week, the Israeli authorities demolished the Palestinian village of Al-Araqib under the protection of the Israeli police, for the 201st time since 2000. According to the Palestinian “Sawa” agency, the village of Al-Araqib has been stripped of recognition in the Negev region, inhabited by Palestinians in modest housing, and its demolition came for the fifth time since the beginning of the year. 2022.

Israel seeks to destroy a group of Palestinian communities in Masafer Yatta, and to displace its residents, under the pretext of using the land for military purposes within the ongoing Israeli project to seize the occupied Palestinian lands.
the bell of danger
Muhammad Hassan Kanaan, head of the Arab Nationalist Party and a former Israeli Knesset member, considered that the tendencies of some Israeli officials, whether within the government or within the Knesset, to implement the law to demolish the homes of Palestinian families inside Israel, and the homes of the perpetrators of guerrilla operations, is a very dangerous matter.

According to his interview with “Sputnik”, this decision expresses the summit of Israeli fascism, and it was the first to be applied to Jewish settler criminals, who commit crimes daily against the Palestinian people, whether in the West Bank or inside Israel.
He stressed that the decision is still under discussion and debate among political and security officials in Israel, but he finds it difficult to implement it easily, as it will face strong counter operations, whether from the Palestinian side inside Israel, or from democratic forces that still believe in the two-state solution.
He continued, “There is anticipation for the Arab masses inside Israel for these trends, and it is expected that the Higher Follow-up Committee at home, representing the Arab community, will carry out protest and legal activities to prevent the enactment of such a fascist law, by going to human rights institutions in the world, especially the United Nations.”
Kanaan said that it is unreasonable for an entire family to be punished for the individual act of one of its sons, and this law is a very dangerous indicator and raises the alarm, especially in light of a large number of Knesset members enjoying fascism and racism against the Palestinian people.
Hide Palestinian landmarks
Ayman al-Raqab, a professor of political science and a leader in the Fatah movement, said that Israel developed a plan with the approval of the United Arab List led by Mansour Abbas, with the aim of demolishing Palestinian homes in 1948, coinciding with the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.

According to his interview with “Sputnik”, the Israeli plan came under the pretext of rebuilding these buildings in new places and under the pretext of re-providing services and rehabilitating and developing Arab areas.
He stressed that some buildings are outside the structural planning of the cities and some are old, but he believes that the goal is not development, but rather the completion of any Palestinian landmarks in these Arab cities, especially in Jaffa, Haifa, Acre and Ramle.
He continued, “The plan comes to include part of these buildings, which were built more than 100 years ago, and the buildings were developed while keeping the old houses,” adding: “Unfortunately, Mansour Abbas, a member of the Knesset for Arab 48, is a partner in that.”
And at the end of last March, two Palestinians from 48 and “holding Israeli citizenship” carried out a gun attack in the city of Hadera in northern Israel, killing two Israeli policemen and wounding ten others, before the perpetrators were killed.
A few days before that, a Palestinian with Israeli citizenship carried out a run-down and stabbing operation in the city of Beersheba (south), killing 4 Israelis, before he was killed.
In the absence of a political horizon for resolving the (Palestinian-Israeli) conflict, since last March, Israel has witnessed armed attacks that killed 18 people, which were met with a massive campaign of arrests and assassinations in cities in the West Bank, including Jenin.
