Replacement “Doppler” actress Casey Michaels is suing the “Game of Thrones” company three years later because she seriously fractured her left ankle while filming.
According to Variety, the injury occurred when Michaels was filming a scene in Episode 3 in a large group of White Walkers on the side of the castle walls, and climbing up an inclined surface to continue the fight.
According to court documents, a group of 28 substitute actors all dressed as White Walkers were instructed to exit the rooftop, which was about 12 feet high.
According to the lawsuit, the benches descended in groups of four to five people and fell on cardboard boxes and mats. Michaels alleges that the cardboard boxes are inherently not durable and damaged.
Michaels was the last surrogate actress to jump off the roof and land first, and she underwent multiple foot surgeries, had plates and screws inserted, underwent lengthy and intense physiotherapy and was treated for depression and trauma.
According to the doctors who testified in court, Michaels’ movement and physical abilities decreased and she could no longer ski, skydive, do gymnastics or run, in addition to the difficulty of shopping, cooking and gardening, and she was unable to return to work since the accident.
Fire & Blood Productions denied this, saying that the carton was “durable and not decompressed when an actor climbed onto the mattress and rolled away.”
The company said Michaels did not jump off the roof as instructed by the stunt coordinator, but rather “like a pencil” in a rigid or vertical manner.
Michaels is seeking damages of about $5 million.
