The General Union of Arab Journalists issued a statement regarding the Israeli forces’ attack on the funeral procession of the Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, who was assassinated while doing her work near Jenin refugee camp.
Wafa news agency quoted the General Union of Arab Journalists in a statement saying, “The world’s public opinion followed with great anger the barbaric attack of the occupation forces on the funeral procession of the body of the martyr Sherine Abu Akleh, as he was leaving the hospital, where the occupation forces launched a violent attack on the procession.”
The statement pointed out that this attack “proves that the martyr Abu Aqila frightened the occupation authorities for her heroic performance as a professional journalist who performs her duties to the fullest extent, to convey the truth that the Palestinian people suffer to the countries of the world.”
The Union of Arab Journalists stressed its “solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate.”
Earlier, the Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, revealed today, Friday, the results of the interim investigation, into the killing of the Palestinian journalist and reporter, Shirin Abu Akleh.
Adraei said in a statement on Twitter, “The interim investigation submitted to the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, General Kohavi, concluded that it was not possible to determine the source of the shooting that wounded Shirin Abu Akleh.”
