Palestinian journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh was deported on Wednesday, after she was shot in the head and killed while covering the Israeli forces storming the city of Jenin, in an event that shook the world.
Abu Aqleh dedicated her personal Twitter account to covering news and stories from Palestine, but she did not use the account on a daily basis.
The last “tweet” of Sherine Abu Akleh on Twitter, on May 5, less than a week before her death, was preceded by a “greeting” tweet on May 2 on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
In her last tweet on Twitter, Sherine published a picture of a woman called “Umm Karim”, an elderly woman who had been waiting for her captive son’s release for 39 years, but died only 8 months before his release, according to Abu Akila.

Abu Aqleh wrote in her last tweet: “The mother of the captive, Karim Younes, died, after she spent 39 years waiting for his return and release from captivity. Karim was arrested in January 1983, and he is scheduled to be released after 8 months.”
Most of the comments came on the photo, talking about the killing of Abu Aqleh, as it was her “last post” on her Twitter account, which is followed by nearly 85,000 people.
During an official farewell and honoring the body of Shireen Abu Akleh, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed, on Thursday, that the Israeli occupation authorities are fully responsible for the killing of the Palestinian journalist.
The Palestinian president added: “We offer our condolences and our condolences to her family, colleagues, and female journalists. We appreciate the great role of the Palestinian and international media and everyone who condemned this heinous crime. We decided to award the martyr the Jerusalem Star Medal.”
