A father saved the life of his 3-year-old daughter, who had only a few hours to live, after suffering from liver failure, according to the British “Sky News” website.
The source said that the doctors told the girl’s parents, Lola Rose Ryan, that her condition is critical and that she will live only a few hours due to her suffering from liver failure, which she suffered last March, noting that there is a chance to save her life.
Doctors explained that Lula needs a liver transplant to survive, noting that the donation must be from the father or the mother only.
Lula’s father, Alan Ryan, said: “When the doctor tells you that your daughter needs a transplant or she will die, it’s not something the father wants to hear. It was totally unexpected.”
Doctors put Lola Rose in an induced (temporary) coma to give her body a chance to survive the potential failure of multiple organs, then the father decided to donate half of his liver.
And “Sky News” revealed that the operation took 7 hours, and the results were “promising,” according to Lula’s father.
The girl’s parents were told that their daughter’s liver failure was caused by an adenovirus infection. The common virus usually causes flu-like symptoms, and its relationship to the sudden rise in mysterious “hepatitis” cases in children in the United Kingdom, since the beginning of this year, is not yet known.
