Anxiety experienced by Liverpool fans, hours before one of the most important meetings of the season, against Manchester City, due to the declining level of Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool relied a lot on Mohamed Salah this season, who contributed to scoring 20 goals in the league, the most among all players in the tournament, but the recent decline in his level may mean a decline in the fortunes of the “Reds” against Manchester City on Sunday evening.
Manchester City, at the Etihad Stadium, hosts rivals Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, where they are separated by one point, which means that the winner on Sunday evening may come close to the league title.
Despite Salah’s “fiery” start with Liverpool, his level decreased strangely, and he stopped scoring goals, which may be because he was affected by the exit of the Egyptian team from the World Cup qualifiers and his failure to achieve the African Nations Cup, as well as the intractable negotiations to renew his contract.
Since February, Salah has lived a scoring “dryness”, as he scored only one goal from a penalty kick, in the last 6 matches in the League and the Champions League.
The legend of England reassures Liverpool
But the legend of the league and the England national team, Alan Shearer, reassured the Liverpool fans about Mohamed Salah, stressing that he is confident that the Egyptian star will return to his level against Manchester City.
Shearer recalled Salah’s amazing goal, against Manchester City, in the first leg: “You want your stars to be influential in the most important matches of the season, and this is what happened in the go for Liverpool star Salah.”
“Look at the target, a tremendous amount of genius and skill, to be good at dribbling like that, right and left,” he added.
Shearer said: “Do not be surprised if you see Salah doing something similar against Manchester City on Sunday. I expect him to score at least a goal, because the best players influence the biggest and best matches.”
“I know he hasn’t scored such goals recently, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he was in the list of goalscorers on Sunday,” he noted.
