Laura Dern joins Netflix romance movie

Jurassic Park original star Laura Dern has landed herself a romantic leading role.

The actress will be joining Netflix’s upcoming romance film, Lonely Planet, with Liam Hemsworth tapped to star alongside her.

The film has also brought on board Emmy and Academy Award nominee Susannah Grant, who directed Unbelievable and wrote the Oscar-winning Erin Brockovich, as its screenwriter, director and producer.

Information about the plot is currently being kept under wraps, with the only detail released so far being that the story will unfold in Morocco. It is also not clear who Dern and Hemsworth will be playing, or if their characters will actually be interacting with each other.

However, Dern is no stranger to romance movies as she starred in David Lynch’s 1990 romantic crime film, Wild at Heart, alongside The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent star Nicholas Cage.

The actress’ latest notable roles included Marmee March on Little Women, an award-winning role on Big Little Lies, and an Academy-award winning performance as Nicole’s lawyer on Marriage Story.

Dern will also be making her return in the Jurassic Park franchise, reprising her role as Dr Ellie Sattler in Jurassic World: Dominion, where she will be reuniting with Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum as Drs Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm.

Goldblum recently posted a compilation of photographs of the trio on his Instagram, teasing their reunion three decades after they first worked together on the popular sci-fi film.

The film will also be the longest Jurassic Park movie to date – clocking in at 2 hours 26 minutes.
