The President of the Russian Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, said today, Friday, that the Moscow Stock Exchange is ready to resume trading on the stock market starting next Monday.
She explained that “trading in the stock market will open next Monday, while regulators are making purchases in the quantities necessary to prevent excessive volatility, and after the situation in the financial market stabilizes, it will be sold.”
She added that the goal of stopping trading on the Moscow Stock Exchange was “to avoid sharp fluctuations in the value of securities due to the unprecedented change in the economic situation.”
“Now we are ready to gradually resume it, after the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Russia,” she added.
It is noteworthy that the Russian Central Bank decided earlier to extend the suspension of the Moscow Stock Exchange’s work in the stock market division until March 18.
