It turns out we could have seen Kristen Stewart rubbing elbows with the likes of David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere, as she could have landed herself a role in Scream 4.
Kristen explained to Slant that she was contacted to have a cameo at the beginning of the 2011 movie, as the producers “created a whole sequence where a lot of people got killed to emulate the Drew [Barrymore] thing. But it was just going to be one person.”
But the star ended up turning down the opportunity because she didn’t feel she could “touch” the greatness of Barrymore’s iconic impact on the franchise, playing Casey Becker in the original movie’s opening scene. “I was like, ‘I can’t do a Drew. I can’t touch that.’ Do you know what I mean?” Kristen said.
But turning down that role doesn’t mean the ship has sailed for anyone hoping to see the former Twilight star join the movie franchise. The star was asked if she’d consider popping up in Scream 6 (which has already been confirmed, by the way) or even another potential sequel beyond that.
“Maybe. I would read the script,” Stewart admitted as she praised the original movie and star Neve Campbell.
“It’s so gnarly. I love the movie because it loves movies. The coolest part of Scream is what it says about film. It’s so self-aware. It folds in on itself like six times. I love how much [Wes Craven] loves movies and how embedded that is. It’s a total film nerd type of movie. It’s not just a slasher flick. It’s a beautiful movie. It’s so hard to watch.”
Scream 6 was officially confirmed last month following the success of the fifth movie in the franchise, which reunited the likes of Cox, Arquette and Campbell.
