The image caused criticism to help the US Secretary of State, due to the timing of the image, as this publication comes after the kingdom executed 81 people on charges of “terrorism”, while some of the responses were expressing admiration for Muhammad Al-Issa’s mission in seeking to advance the Abrahamic religions.
On her Twitter page, Ozra Zia published a picture with Muhammad Al-Issa, commenting on it, saying: “Thank you to the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Dr. Al-Issa, for your cooperation in spreading the values of coexistence and mutual respect among religious communities, advancing religious freedom and combating anti-Semitism.”

For his part, Abdullah Al-Awda, the son of the detained Saudi preacher Salman Al-Awda, re-published the tweet of the American official, commenting: “Two days after the largest mass execution in the history of Saudi governments, an American official meets a Saudi official and thanks him for the freedoms and coexistence!! Consider the atrocities of the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, to support them,” as he put it.
