The White House confirmed today, Thursday, that “concluding a nuclear agreement with Iran is imminent, although the final stage of the negotiations in Vienna in this regard is the most difficult.”
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said: “We are close to reaching an agreement with Iran regarding the nuclear deal, but the last stage of the negotiations is the most difficult.”
The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Admiral Ali Shamkhani, said today, Thursday, that the United States’ desire to reach a quick nuclear agreement indicates that it has no will to conclude a strong agreement.
“Iran’s nuclear talks are getting more complicated by the hour without the United States making a political decision,” he added on Twitter.
And last Tuesday, the US State Department announced that the United States and France had agreed to continue close coordination in an effort to reach a nuclear deal with Iran.
The French government has warned that any further delay in talks to revive the Iranian nuclear deal could threaten the chances of reaching an agreement.
And last Saturday, Iran announced that it had agreed to a roadmap with the International Atomic Energy Agency to resolve all outstanding issues over the country’s nuclear program by late June, in a move seen as the latest move towards reviving Tehran’s nuclear deal with world powers signed in 2015.
The Iranian announcement came at a time when all parties involved in the indirect talks between Tehran and Washington aimed at reviving the nuclear agreement said that they were close to reaching an agreement in the recent Vienna talks.
