An Egyptian novelist gets the rights to turn Omar Sharif’s memoirs into a drama series

Today, Tuesday, the Egyptian novelist and scriptwriter Haitham Dabour announced that he has obtained the rights to transform the memoirs of the international actor, Omar Sharif, into a drama series, which will be shown on one of the digital platforms.
Dabour said, in a statement, that he had already signed a contract with Tariq Omar Sharif regarding the memoirs that include the journey of the late star’s rise to Hollywood and his professionalism, Bridge, in addition to other details “that have not been previously shown in the Arab media.”
He added that the memoirs written by Al-Sharif himself are characterized by extreme boldness and honesty, expressing his happiness for the responsibility of appearing on the screen.
For his part, Tariq (son of Omar Sharif and the lady of the Arab screen, Faten Hamama) said that he is excited to see his father’s memoirs in a great artwork on one of the international platforms through a production that befits his memory and reflects his place in the history of cinema.
In this context, Dabour revealed to the media that the production of the series will be huge, as it deals with stations in the life of the international star in the United States and Europe.
He explained that the series will be shown in short episodes of 8 to 10 episodes, without revealing the name of the platform that will be presented or the expected timing of the show.
It is noteworthy that Omar Sharif died in July 2015 at the age of 83, after he turned into one of the icons of cinema and one of the few Arab actors who achieved international fame.
