The Turkish government announced that it had officially notified Russia that it had decided to prevent Russian warships from crossing the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits.
“Turkey will not allow the passage of warships through the strait,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, warning all the coastal and landlocked countries of the Black Sea about the matter.
“We renew our commitment to the provisions of the (Montreux) Treaty regarding maritime navigation, and we will continue to do so,” he added.
