Pink Floyd star demands Erdogan release Kurdish singer

Famous British singer and guitarist Roger Waters has called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to release Kurdish singer Nadim Durak.
On his Twitter account, Roger Waters, co-founder of the famous British rock band Pink Floyd, published a story about his demand for the release of singer Nadim Durak, commenting: “Hello.. President Erdogan, please release Nadim!”

According to Zaman newspaper, Waters had previously addressed President Erdogan at a party, saying: “I beg you to re-evaluate the case of a young woman who was sentenced to 19 years in prison for singing in her mother tongue…Do the right thing…Please release Nedim Durak…I know.” She is not a Palestinian citizen, but a human prisoner. She must be released.”

It was pointed out that Durak was living in the Turkish “Al-Jazeera” region, and sang songs in both Turkish and her original language, Kurdish, and was subsequently accused of communicating with members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which Turkey considers a “terrorist organization”.

According to her lawyer, Nadim Durak was convicted of “belonging to an illegal organization” and sentenced without being able to provide adequate evidence in her defence.
