Anthea Turner believes that the secret to staying young is to ‘push yourself out of your comfort zone.’
In a new interview with Hello!, the former TV presenter, 61, stressed that ‘doing something different is what matters’, which is the reason she often says yes to ‘crazy challenges.’
The fearless media personality has previously appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, Dancing On Ice and the gruelling Celebrity SAS.
Speaking about the secret to retaining her youth, she told the publication: ‘I think the best way to stay young is to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
‘Don’t stay on the sofa all day, get out there and do something different, that’s what matters and that’s why I tend to say yes to these crazy challenges.’
The former Blue Peter icon is also due to appear in TV series The Real Dirty Dancing, where celebrities attempt to recreate scenes from the 1987 film starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.
Admitting it felt a ‘bit of a stretch to try and become Baby,’ Anthea said: ‘I am the same age as Jennifer Grey is now, but I hope she is proud that someone who is 61 is channelling their inner Baby!’
The star also teased that late heartthrob Patrick was ‘every girl’s dream’ and explained how she is in the only person in the show who queued at the cinema to watch the blockbuster when it was first released.
Joining Anthea in the dancing challenge is Blue’s Lee Ryan, TOWIE’s James Argent, reality TV star Marnie Simpson and social media sensation Saffron Barker.
Comedian Darren Harriott, comedian and actor Verona Rose, former Goggleboxer and performer Tom Malone Jr, quizzer Bobby Seagull and actress Chelsee Healey complete the line up.
The series, set to start this month, will be co-hosted by Dirty Dancing superfan Keith Lemon and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts.
Across eight episodes, The Real Dirty Dancing will follow the 10 famous faces as they move into a stunning Lakeside location reminiscent of the original Kellermans resort.
The show will culminate in the showstopping finale, where the top two couples take on the moment every fan dreams of – the gravity-defying lift.
