Expert: Taking a cold shower lowers cholesterol

Many people suffer from the problem of high cholesterol, which may pose a threat to their lives, especially as the arteries begin to become clogged.
And the British newspaper, “Daily Express”, quoted Dr. Hussein Abdi from the Foundation “MedicineDirec” in London, as saying that there are several ways to control the level of cholesterol, including bathing with cold water at certain times.
He pointed out that “clogged arteries as a result of high cholesterol leads to serious and life-threatening complications,” adding that “fortunately, there are many ways that one can take to reverse this rise, including showering at different times of the day.”
And Abdi continued, “Evidence is growing that taking a cold shower in the morning stimulates a sense of alertness, and encourages people to breathe deeply, which leads to lower levels of carbon dioxide in the body, and taking a shower with colder water may also help protect the heart,” explaining that “bathing Cold water improves blood circulation, by facilitating blood flow, and as a result it can lower blood pressure, and lead to the removal of clogged arteries.
Dr. Abdi explained, “Cold water that hits the skin also leads to efficient blood circulation, which means that it pumps blood throughout the body faster, which helps open the arteries. Moreover, cold showers can help reduce harmful levels of fats in the body. by forcing the body to use it for warmth.
He pointed to two types of fat present in the body, “white and brown, and both have different benefits and risks,” stressing that “taking a cold bath leads to forcing the body to consume brown fat, in an attempt to keep the body warm, which leads to a reduction in white fat levels.” thus lowering the cholesterol level.
