Today, Saturday, the American police said that they launched a search for 4 macaques, which are dedicated to research related to the vaccine against the emerging “Corona” virus.
The long-tailed monkeys escaped after a truck carrying 100 of them was involved in a traffic crash.
The trailer carrying monkeys to a laboratory in Florida collided with a dump truck on a highway in Pennsylvania, USA. No injuries were reported.
Two were found, but the US authorities are still trying to arrest them, while the other two are still on the run, according to the New York Times.
Pennsylvania State Police Sergeant Andrea Belachek confirmed the chase for the fugitive monkeys in Montour County.
Police have asked people to keep their distance, and to call 911 if they spot any of the escaping monkeys.
