Monkeys kill more than 200 dogs in “revenge” attacks by throwing them from high-rise buildings

A group of monkeys in an Indian town took revenge on 250 dogs last month, by throwing them from high-rise buildings.
Locals in Lavol, a town of 5,000 people about 300 miles east of Mumbai, told the monkeys the monkeys began taking revenge last month, after a pack of dogs killed a baby monkey.
Residents reported that since the killing of the baby monkey, monkeys have snatched dogs as soon as they spot them, and drag them to the tops of trees and tall buildings in order to throw them from above.
Indian media reported that nearly every dog in the town of Lavol was killed in the monkey elimination.

Officials from the local forest department were called in to help catch the vengeful monkeys, but they were unable to catch one of them, according to the American magazine “Newsweek”.

The villagers also tried to catch the monkeys, but many of them were injured.
Currently, the monkeys are targeting young children in the village of Lavol, which has created a state of “panic” among their families.
Behavioral ecologists of the monkeys stated that these animals are capable of revenge, and that they usually prefer to attack a third party linked to the original aggressor, as opposed to the actual aggressor, according to Gizmodo.
