Scream has teased the identity of the brand-new Ghostface Killer in the upcoming film’s poster.
The fifth chapter in the slasher saga – simply titled Scream – sees “final girl” Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) going back to Woodsboro as the town is plagued by a series of gruesome killings.
A month away from returning in all its gory glory, a fresh image of the cast has been released, hinting that the killer might be closer than fans think.
The poster features Campbell in the role, as well as the extended cast and an eerie closeup of Ghostface looming over them. Part of #12ScreamsForTheHolidays, the new snap was accompanied by a major clue about Ghostface’s identity.
“The killer is on this poster,” the caption reads.
Alongside Campbell, the image also features Friends star Courteney Cox and David Arquette in the roles of reporter Gale Weathers and sheriff Dewey Riley from the first four films.
Opposite the original trio and Scream 4’s Marley Shelton, reprising the role of deputy sheriff Judy Hicks, there is a bunch of newcomers, all equally up to be revealed as the killer.
From Vida’s Melissa Barrera and The Boys actor Jack Quaid to 13 Reasons Why’s Dylan Minnette, fans better keep their eyes peeled for clues.
We feel pretty confident to exclude You actress Jenna Ortega’s character Tara Carpenter. According to the trailer, it looks like Tara might share the same fate of Drew Barrymore’s Casey Becker in the original 1996 film. Better not jump to conclusions, though: as Scream fan-favourite Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) maintained, everybody is a suspect.
Scream is released in cinemas on January 14, 2022.
