The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that the Super Cup match between Al-Ahly of Egypt and Raja Casablanca of Morocco will be held at the Ahmed Bin Ali World Cup Stadium in Qatar, on Wednesday, December 22nd.
The CAF said in a statement yesterday, Friday, that it had been agreed with the Local Organizing Committee in Qatar, on the stadium and time for the start of the Super Cup match, between Al-Ahly, the holder of the African Champions League title, and Al-Rajaa, the holder of the Confederation Cup.
And Raja had announced last Tuesday that it had asked the African Union to postpone the match due to the presence of some of the team’s players with the Moroccan national team in the Arab Cup “Qatar 2021”, which will end on December 18, making it impossible for the aforementioned players to join the team’s mission, as well as the presence of some Realistic difficulties in securing a foreign trip in view of the lack of time, given the current epidemiological considerations and the lack of flights to and from Morocco at the present time.
However, CAF later rejected the Moroccan team’s request.
Al-Ahly holds the last title of the African Super Cup, after beating Morocco’s RB Berkane 2-0 in Doha, on May 28.
At the time, the Cairo team regained the title after an absence of seven years.
