Scientists publish the first microscopic image of the “Omicron” mutant

Researchers from the University of Hong Kong have published an electron microscope image of the omicron mutant.
And “Sputnik” agency reported, quoting a university statement, that medical scientists, including pathologists and virologists, were able to take a microscopic image of a monkey kidney cell (Vero E6) after infection with the “Omicron” mutant and issue the image at low and high magnification.
At low power, the micrographs showed damage to cells with swollen vesicles containing small black viral particles. The high-magnification optical micrograph shows aggregates of viral particles with coronal spines on their surface.

And researchers from the Department of Microbiology at the University of Hong Kong were able, earlier, to isolate “Omicron” from clinical samples, which will allow the development and production of vaccines against the new strain.
The World Health Organization had announced, earlier, the inclusion of the new mutated from the Corona virus discovered in South Africa and other countries, among the list of “variants of concern.”
The organization classifies coronavirus strains as variants of concern when they are more transmissible, more virulent, or have a greater ability to overcome public health measures, including vaccines and treatments.
