An old secret airport in the mountains of Lebanon

The French mandate managed to build several airports in Lebanon, the most prominent of which is today the only airport in the country known as Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut.

Lebanese sources said that among the interesting airports in Lebanon is Baadran Airport, which was built and developed by the minister, former deputy and head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt.

According to historical sources, during the Mandate period, the French built the airport. It is strategically located at the top of a mountain in the Mount Lebanon region, specifically in the town of Baadran, Al-Shoufieh, and also overlooks the Barouk Mountains and most of the villages of the Chouf.

During the 1970s, Jumblatt sought to develop and expand the airport to be used militarily and logistically, but with the end of the Lebanese civil war and the state’s imposition of control, the airport turned into a destination for tourists and the people of the region.

Earlier, pictures of Jumblatt wandered around the airport.
