Hollywood firearms consultant Brian Carpenter has commented on the tragedy on the western set of “Rest”, in which Alec Baldwin shot the cameraman and wounded the director.
In an interview with “The New York Post”, the specialist pointed out that in no case should a gun be directed at anyone, regardless of whether it is hollowed out or not.
“Never point the barrel of your gun at someone you don’t want to kill,” Carpenter said.
He said that all combat firearms used on the set are aimed at a dummy and not equipment, actors or crew.
“Even if the gun is not loaded, treat it as if it were,” the specialist explained.
A tragedy occurred during the filming of “Rest” when Alec Baldwin, who plays the lead role, was shot with a pistol. The weapon was supposed to have sonic cartridges, but it had real cartridges inside. Photographer Galina Hutchins was seriously injured and died in hospital, and director Joel Sousa was shot in the collarbone.
No charges have been filed against the actor yet.
