The South Korean military prosecutor requested a 15-year prison sentence for a non-commissioned officer in the Air Force, on the grounds of sexual harassment of a female colleague, which prompted her to commit suicide.
A South Korean Air Force First Sergeant named Jang is suspected of sexually molesting a female colleague of the same rank in a car on their way back to their base in the western city of Susan after a private meeting in March.
The victim committed suicide, after facing what was described as a weak response by the army to her complaint.
Officials said that during the court’s first session in the case against Jang, military prosecutors asked the Seoul General Military Court to sentence the accused to 15 years in prison.
