A Brighton player helps police investigate an alleged crime

Premier League football club Brighton & Hove Albion says one of its players is helping police with an investigation into an alleged crime.

Sky Sports reported that the player, who has not been named for legal reasons, was arrested at a Brighton nightclub in the early hours of Wednesday.
“Two men have been arrested after a woman reported sexual assault at a venue in Brighton in the early hours of Wednesday,” Sussex Police said in a statement.

“A man in his 40s and a man in his 20s, both from Brighton, have been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and remain in police custody at this time.”

The club said it was aware that “one of its players is assisting the police in an investigation into an alleged crime”.

“The matter is subject to legal procedures and therefore the club is unable to make further comments at this time.”
