Messi witnesses his first defeat with Paris Saint-Germain

Argentine football star, Lionel Messi, suffered his first defeat as a player in the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain, on Sunday, as his team lost 2-0 to Rennes in the French Ligue 1.

The Argentine star hit the crossbar with a free kick during the first half at Roazone Park, before Gaetan Laborde Reign scored just before the end of the first half, his sixth goal in the league to top the scorers list.
Flavien Tate scored less than 20 seconds after the start of the second half to double the lead, while Kylian Mbappe missed a goal that was canceled due to offside, to cut Rennes with Paris Saint-Germain’s winning streak that lasted eight league games this season.

For his part, said Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino: “We did not start the game well, but we played the best 25-30 minutes this season. It is a pity that we did not score. We conceded two goals that were difficult to score.”

This is the first loss for Paris Saint-Germain in the French League since April, when it lost 1-0 at home to Lille, the champion of last season.

“Overall, I’m satisfied,” Pochettino said. “We created a lot of chances. Rennes scored his first goal and the goal had a huge emotional impact.”

He continued: “I don’t like to lose, there is a bit of anger. To lose 2-0 after a good period, we are disappointed that we didn’t finish what we had. It leaves us feeling bitter and a little disappointed.”
