After criticism from the European Parliament .. “Expo Dubai” mourns 5 workers killed during its preparations

Today, Saturday, the organizers of the “Expo 2020” exhibition, hosted by Dubai, revealed for the first time the death toll among the workers who participated in the preparations for the establishment of this huge world exhibition.
The organizers of “Expo 2020 Dubai” have acknowledged that five workers were killed during the construction work of this huge world fair from scratch.

In all, 200,000 workers took part in the exhibition construction, who worked a total of about 240 million hours.

Expo spokesman Sekoned McGeechen told a news conference that authorities were aware of reports of abuses against workers during construction work.

This comes after the European Parliament last month urged countries not to participate in the “Expo Dubai” because of what it described as “the UAE’s inhumane practices towards foreign workers”, warning that these practices have exacerbated against the background of the Corona virus pandemic, including forcing workers to sign Untranslated documents, confiscation of their passports, exposing them to harsh working hours in unsafe weather conditions, and providing them with unhealthy housing.
