Several customers of the American e-commerce company “Amazon” have expressed their anger over its implementation of a new policy.
Subscribers of the Amazon Prime service, which has a special subscription, were surprised that the company, “Amazon”, began on September 25 to charge them $ 10 in fees, if they order groceries, according to the American network “CNN”.
The service was originally free as a perk for Amazon Prime members, who already pay $12.99 per month or $119 per year, plus taxes.
Anger over the new policy has led to some customers threatening to cancel their Amazon Prime memberships as a result.
And many angry customers expressed their dissatisfaction through social networking sites, as one user tweeted on Twitter that “the benefits of Amazon Prime diminish every year,” while another user wrote that “with the imposition of the 10 dollar policy, and if you have food delivered, 2-3 times a month, that’s about $50 in tips and fees.”
Many customers also said they no longer have any reason to do their grocery shopping on Amazon right now, and one wrote that “if you were to add a $10 fee, your grocery competitors, who all have delivery services now, would be more attractive than Amazon”.
Another added: “So Amazon now wants an extra $10 per grocery delivery, enough to force us to cancel Prime altogether.”
For its part, Amazon defended its new policy by emphasizing that the $10 fee was added so that the grocer would not have to increase the prices of its products to offset the “operating costs, including equipment, technology and other costs” associated with Amazon’s delivery service.
She continued, noting that it delivered more than 3 times the number of orders last year 2020, than it did before the coronavirus epidemic, and that as the pandemic continues, “customers continue to rely on delivery for their storage needs, as average shopping cart sizes continue to increase. Since the beginning of 2021.
