A Syrian teacher defies the technical blockade and wins two international competitions

Believing that research and learning are the source of excellence and the root of change for the better, teacher Fadia was able to win the “Global teacher awards 2021” and the “Microsoft Innovative Expert Eduacator (MIE 2021)” competition.

Ali still has many dreams imbued with will and determination, which she looks forward to achieving and including them in her successive series of successes.

About the Global Teacher Contest 2021 “Global teacher awards granted by AkS, an India-based global organization based on a partnership between international universities, educational institutions and software companies to provide interactive services in the field of education, Ali says to “Sputnik”: “I submitted an application to participate in the competition Electronically via the organization’s platform, and I answered a wide range of questions aimed at revealing the contestant’s scientific and educational skills, in addition to sending a recording and links to lessons and educational contents that I designed, as specialized committees evaluated these educational contents.”

Ali indicated that she designed a large number of educational content, videos and interactive tests, and recorded broadcasts of several lessons and volunteer activities and sent them to the competition committee, and the result was a victory.

Ali added: “The CVs of the participants were also studied, and the addresses of the institutions and activities they carried out were confirmed by communicating with their colleagues, not to mention the organization’s correspondence with some legal and scientific personalities as a kind of recommendation and recognition of the contestant’s activity in his country.”

Ali indicated that more than 12,000 teachers from 110 countries participated in the competition, including scientifically prominent countries such as Russia, Germany, Japan, Korea, Italy and Spain.

Among the most prominent Arab countries participating in addition to Syria, Ali referred to Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and the UAE, pointing out that a ceremony to honor the winner is scheduled to be held next October 10 at the headquarters of the AKS organization.

Aks seeks to discover the leading teachers in their field who are able to make a positive change in their communities and who are able to integrate technology in education and create inspirational teaching methods, especially those with voluntary initiatives and who are able to work effectively and influential even outside the classroom in their communities

Regarding the second competition, the Microsoft Innovative Expert Eduacator (MIE 2021), which bears the slogan “Connecting The world Through education,” Ali said: “Several years ago, Microsoft provided a platform for education, Microsoft Eduactor, where participants can They undergo online training courses on the use of technology in education, and at the end of each training course, the trainee takes a test, and the Microsoft platform keeps an achievement file for each participant.”

Ali added: “Despite the technical and software siege on Syria, despite the suffering and many challenges, I was able to finish 70 training lessons on the Microsoft educational platform, and achieved a score of 100 out of 100 in 30 of them, and designed more than 120 interactive educational content, recorded several educational videos and sent them to The competition committee, and my efforts were crowned with victory.”

According to Ali, Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) programs are looking for visionary and creative global educators who use technology to pave the way for their peers to achieve better educational outcomes for students. This is a variety of programs to help teachers who are just starting this journey

“When a participant’s portfolio reaches a certain skill level and is proficient in integrating technology into the classroom, they can apply to join the MIE Expert competition program to work closely with Microsoft and lead innovation in education,” Ali continued.

During the progression, the contestants are also subject to an “online” test that includes questions that measure their skills in designing interactive educational activities and their knowledge of “Microsoft Educator” programs.

Winning two competitions that have nothing to do with them except that a coincidence of time combined the dates of announcing their results during two consecutive days, increased Ali’s sense of responsibility, as Ali said: This will push me to further learning and self-development and a lot of hard and diligent work, and she adds: “Winning is very expensive.” And it is that it has accumulated other successes that match it and make the name of Syria always present in international scientific forums.”

The siege imposed on Syria made it difficult for Ali, whose task she described as difficult, adding: I am proud to represent the Syrian youth in these international competitions despite the conditions of war and the siege they are subjected to, not only economically and politically, but also a technical and programmatic siege.

Ali added: “The reality of the technical siege made my task very difficult, as I sometimes took hours and days to complete digital content, and then lost it after the links and applications were closed and I received a message (unavailable for your country).”

And Ali continued, “Nevertheless, I did not despair. On the contrary, I increased my determination to double the effort, return from zero, and repeat the attempt several times without tirelessness for a whole year.”

With glee, imbued with self-confidence, Ali added: “Syria is a land of rebirth and renewal, and the Syrian youth have a steely will capable of defying all circumstances, and there are many examples of Syrian youth’s excellence locally and globally.”

Ali indicated that, in order to win the competition, Microsoft will conclude contracts with the winning teachers from all countries of the world as of September 28, and adds: As of the beginning of next year, I will be Microsoft’s ambassador in the Levant, and I will work “online” to design some educational content.

She continues: “The ambition does not stop at this point, but this victory will be the basis for achieving greater achievements to leave a greater impact on students on the one hand, and raise the name of Syria in international forums on the other hand.”

In Ali’s record of much success and distinction, she holds a certificate of excellence for Fawzi at the Syrian level in the Teachers’ Scientific Olympiad in 2018, and holds the Medal of Active Researcher and Initiative Researcher from Al-Madina Virtual University of Malaysia for her success in courses for creating digital audio educational content for children with learning disabilities and Designing free educational materials in Arabic and English in light of the Corona pandemic 2020, not to mention being honored by the Minister of Education for its contribution to compensating educational losses during the ban period in light of the Corona pandemic.
